Room 202: Wednesday Afternoon [11/13].
Kamala had been a sloth long enough that it was slightly concerning, but also, since Eleanor knew how these things tended to work around here, increasingly more dangerous to actually bring Kamala around with her to public places and things like their shared classes. It was one of those things were she was at that point of turning back at literally any minute. The last time this had happened, Eleanor had left to go to class, swung by the store to pick up Squishies and some food, and, while she was out, Kamala had conveniently changed back, 'stolen' one of her Shenanigans shirts, and all was well in the world.
It was probably a bit optimistic of her, then, that she was hoping the same would happen again, and she'd come back to her room to find Kamala back to herself and having raided her closet once more.
She tried not to sigh with her disappointment when she opened the door to find that Kamala was, indeed, still a sloth, and then she tried to smile and be encouraging and positive.
"Still slothing it up, huh?" she asked. "I guess that makes sense; everything's a bit slower when you're like this, right? Well, either way, I brought some food and a Squishy." She set both of them down on the floor before going over to pry Kamala from where she'd been hanging to set her down with them, too. "We can have lunch and I'll tell you about what you missed in class."

Like right now. All of a sudden? Boom! There was Kamala, sans clothes, in front of Eleanor and looking very off balance. Kamala’s eyes blinked a few times before realizing where she was and then more importantly what she wasn’t wearing.
“AAAHH!”
There Kamala was. Suddenly on her feet, and her hands trying to cover up things that haven’t been seen before.
“Uh…”
She managed to give El an awkward smile.
“Hi!”

That? Was still incredibly jarring, and Eleanor's mind was reeling a little to shift her reality from having a girlfriend who was a sloth back to having a girlfriend who was herself again.
"Oh!"
Eleanor wished she could blame her surprise on the fact that she didn't look away immediately, but she knew better, but once she acknowledged that, she did look away. Even better, she turned away and shut her eyes and covered them with her hand as if to be extra cautious about invading Kamala's privacy or giving into her own temptation. Her other hand waved vaguely to some of the clothes she'd set out in preparation for exactly this happening.
"Hi! You're back! I...sorry! I guess I....maybe I should have taken longer at the store!"
Oh, Ellie. You knew it didn't really work like that...

Kamala then let out a groan. “Right in the middle of homecoming. God. I’m sorry. I ruined everything.”
But now Kamala had noticed the Squishy and she was now stuck in a battle between her modesty and putting on clothes or grabbing the Squishy.
So many important decisions right now.

Because Eleanor was absolutely still standing exactly like that, although a million years did seem, once again, incredibly optimistic of her. Even as she stood there for a faction of that time, she resolved not to move barely a muscle, because as time ticked on, she realized it was going to be harder to combat her curiosity.
Or even just to urge to check that Kamala was even okay...
"You didn't," Eleanor insisted. "You really didn't. Homecoming was..." She trailed off a little wistfully, replaying the scene of them dancing together in her head again, before the slothening had occurred, "...wonderful." She still kept her eyes closed, but her hand fell away to her side as she let out a soft breath of a laugh. "Maybe that's why you turned when you did. The universe couldn't have it being too perfect, you know?"
Not if she was involved! Something had to go wrong, and if something was going to go wrong regardless, at least it was something as innocuous as that.
The urge to turn around struck her again; she quickly squashed it back down.

"Look, I’m not sure the universe cares that much about our perfect moment," Kamala said, setting the drink down. "I just hate that we didn’t get to finish that dance. Or go on that walk after the dance. Or… you know, anything where I wasn’t a furry thing for however long that lasted."
She started slipping into the clothes Eleanor had set aside, turning her back as she dressed. "Oh, God. How long was I a sloth? What day is it?"
no subject
"It's Wednesday," Eleanor explained, because thinking about basic facts was simple and easier to think about that missed opportunities for perfect evenings, "the thirteenth. So you've been a sloth for a while." Her faint grin went a little wry. "If you've have stuck on for longer, you could have made it a full two weeks."
And at that point, Eleanor would have been officially worried.
And since she could hear the shifting of clothes, she dared to open her eyes and peek over her shoulder a little.
"I'm so glad you're back now."

She looked over her shoulder to see if she could get a little glimpse at Eleanor. "Maybe this week we could go out? Or anything else if you have something in mind?" she offered.
no subject
"You don't have to make it up to us at all," she pointed out. "Well, I can't speak for Arden, obviously, but I don't really see her insisting on payback, either. You know we're both happy to help."
There was a small pause before she added, far too sheepishly for how long they'd been together, "But going out this week would be pretty nice. I love hanging out with you no matter what you are, but you are a much better conversationalist like this." There was a small smile, some of the sheepishness already melting, but still lingering. "I missed the sound of your voice."

Kamala finished tugging on her shirt and then padded over, slipping her arms around Eleanor’s waist from behind. “Well, as cool as being a sloth was, I’d much rather wrap myself around you like this,” she murmured softly into Eleanor’s ear then planting a quick, warm kiss on her cheek. “And as far as I’m concerned, we can talk all you want today… or until someone forces us to be somewhere else.”
no subject
Could they maybe just stay here all day? Just like this. Eleanor wouldn be more than okay with that option.
She rested her hands on Kamala's and turned her head over her shoulder for another kiss, this one decidedly not just on her cheek, either.
"You already missed class," she said, "but you didn't miss much. We went to Kansas. For the world's biggest ball of twine. But I took pictures to show you."
She sort of figured that Kamala could make even a giant valley of twine fun and exciting.
"But that also means we shouldn't have anywhere else we need to be."

She paused a second before reluctantly letting go Eleanor so she could take a step back and gave her girlfriend a little tug on her hand so they could face each other. "Now... there is at least one thing I'd like to do right now if you wouldn't mind?"
no subject
So not that, since it looked like Kamala had already managed that while getting dressed, apparently! Which was honestly impressive.
There was a little musing on what else it could be,before she grinned faintly and nodded. "Yeah, of course. Whatever you want, Kam."

She tapped the screen a few times and slow music started to play. She turned to Eleanor with a smile, holding out her hand. “What I’d really like to do,” she said softly, “is finish that dance with you.”
With her other hand, she summoned tiny bits of her hard light, tossing it gently into the air. Soft, glowing pinks and purples shimmered above them giving a nice ambiance to the room

"I think that's a great idea," she said, and then did what she wanted to do most now, which was kiss Kamala, soft and lingering, before letting the music start to sway them.

“See? Perfect moment. No sudden transformation,” she murmured.

And just getting to see her face again was so nice. As cute as she was as a sloth, she just loved this face so much. And it was definitely much more kissable, as she was proving now because she had to kiss her again.
"I think you're safe, though," she then said. "I've never been able to pull that off."
She did sort of wonder, though, if Fandom ever did weave its magic on her in that way, what would she turn into?
She was more than fine with never finding that out.

"Throw in a nice cup of tea in there somewhere," she suggested, "and then it would be just about as perfect as this dance right now." She then let out a small laugh. "Here you are, just coming back from a hard week as a sloth, and you're talking about taking care of me. Pretty sure I should be the one tucking you in with comic books and superhero movies and Squishies and a good gyro, right?"

Her tone was affectionate and full of gratitude but Kamala realized that might not be enough so she leaned in to give Eleanor the soft and and tender kiss she deserved.
“Thank you for that.”
Sorry, Arden. You’re not getting this kind of thank you.
